Information You Submit
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Jones County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message as needed to answer it. The communication remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Information Collected Automatically
Our systems receive basic technical and usage details whenever a visitor loads a page, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is available
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Browser type and version
- Device category and operating system
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic in aggregate, such as which pages receive visits and where sessions end. You can block cookies through browser controls, although doing so may change how some website functions behave.
How Information Is Used
Information collected through ordinary website operation may be used for the following purposes:
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Measuring which content is useful and where improvements are needed
- Operating the website and maintaining its performance
- Presenting advertising that may reflect visitor interests
- Directing a search request to the applicable partner tool
No Criminal Records Database
Jones County Criminal History does not collect, compile, maintain, or sell a personal criminal-record database. The Jones County Sheriff, local court clerks, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texas Public Sex Offender Registry are identified as official sources. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs access to covered government records, while Government Code Chapter 411 addresses dissemination of criminal-history information. Neither law turns this private reference website into an official custodian. We do not convert visitor activity into a consumer report, and we are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Outside Search Providers
Independent companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through one of those tools is handled under that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. We do not direct the provider's retention or disclosure practices. Read its policy before entering a query.
Websites Linked From Here
Links may lead to Jones County offices, Texas agencies, court resources, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. Once you leave this website, the destination's privacy terms apply. Review those terms before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select interest-based ads. We do not operate that tracking.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Advertising networks that serve content on the website
- Analytics providers that measure visits and performance
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal order compels disclosure
- Search providers that process a query submitted through their tools
Safeguarding Information
We use standard safeguards intended to protect information in our care. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that an unauthorized access or data breach will never occur.
Visitors Under Age 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor submitted personal data, we will remove it promptly.
Requests About Your Data
Available rights depend on where a visitor lives and which law applies. Subject to applicable limits, you may:
- Object to certain forms of data processing
- Request deletion of information associated with you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request access to personal information we hold about you
Policy Revisions
We may revise this privacy policy. Any revised version will be posted here and will carry an updated effective date. Review the policy periodically to see the current practices.
